Can the acupressure mats harm the horse?
The Accuhorsemat® has removable acupressure mats, which enables the owner to remove those mats or acupressure rosettes, that seem to irritate the horse. However if the acupressure mats are placed at the sensitive areas, they will not physically hurt the horse.
Can the Accuhorsemat® be used at all times?
The Accuhorsemat® is perfect for the horse to recover after practices or competitions, and to calm the horse down prior to practices or competitions. You are recommended not to use Accuhorsemat® during the day of a contest.
Can I leave the horse during the Accuhorsemat® treatment?
It is important to be present during the Accuhorsemat® treatment, if the horse suddenly starts to react differently to the treatment.
How long is the Accuhorsemat® treatment period for?
When first trying out the treatment, begin by laying the hindquarter's acupressure mat on, without the rug, to let your horse get used to the feeling of the acupressure rosettes. When your horse has become accustomed to the sensation your can use the complete rug. Start with a time period of 10-15 minutes to see how your horse reacts to the treatment. Increase the treatment periods gradually to 30-45 minutes when you see that the treatment is going well.
There are acupressure pads irritating my horse. Can I do something about it?
The Accuhorsemat® is designed so as the acupressure rosettes are removable. Always save the acupressure rosettes, because they may come in handy if you use the same Accuhorsemat® on a different horse.
Can I use the same blanket for my pony as for my horse?
No, it is important that you use the right Accuhorsemat® blanket for your horse's size specifically. Acupressure mats can otherwise touch the horse's sensitive areas, and make the purpose of the treatment insufficient, and even harmful. There are three different sizes to choose from; 12-14 hands, 14-16 hands and 17-above hands.
Can I use the Accuhorsemat if my horse is under medical treatment?
If your horse is under medical treatment of any kind, we recommend that you consult your veterinarian before using the acupressure blanket during that period.
